CAMBRIDGESHIRE & PETERBOROUGH LOCAL RESILIENCE FORUM INFLUENZA PANDEMIC CONTINGENCY PLANThis Plan has been developed with the guidance provided by the Department of Health and the Civil Contingencies Secretariat. It is based on the progression of the Influenza Pandemic according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Phases and UK Alert Levels. The plan assumes that the Pandemic Flu Line is functioning as discussed in the Plan and that the pandemic has escalated to the point where Antiviral Collection Points are required.. Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Resilience Forum (CPLRF) has developed a new proportional response and phased approach covering the distribution of Antivirals through a range of increasing numbers of symptomatic people prior to a Flu Pandemic being declared. The current position is that should Antivirals within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough be needed, they will distribute them in accordance with the method outlined in paragraph a above. This phased increase uses: a. The current procedure which has been developed on the Health Protection Agency’s Website for identifying whether a person with Flu symptoms has caught Swine Flu and arranges for a Flu Friend to collect the Antiviral course b. When symptomatic numbers increase, a number of pre-identified NHS sites will be established to assess the symptoms and if the criteria are fulfilled, distribute the Antivirals. These sites can be used if the Pandemic Flu Line is not yet established c. Finally when symptomatic numbers increase beyond the capability/capacity of the NHS Sites, a number of pre-identified full Antiviral Collection Points as discussed in the CPLRF Plan will be established in Local Authority /Community premises. These sites can be used whether or not the Pandemic Flu Line is established. It is intended that these changes will be incorporated into the CPLRF at the next The UNCLASSIFIED version of the Plan has had certain restricted information removed.
